BAYOG conducts training-seminar on governance

Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur, July 11 (PIA) -- To enhance the competencies of barangay officials and key barangay leaders on the fundamentals of barangay governance and administration, the local government unit of Bayog  in coordination with other local officials conducted a two-day seminar/workshop on governance dubbed as “Laying the Foundation” on June 10-11, 2012 at TIMMULCO Building, this municipality.

Some 80 participants from the 20 barangays of the municipality, who are recipients of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan- Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) attended the said workshop.

According to Mayor Leonardo Babasa, Jr., the activity is  part of the LGU’s commitment to Kalahi-CIDSS programs, to conduct governance training.

In his message to the participants, he urged the barangay officials to
adhere to the principle of Participatory, Transparency and Accountability (PTA) in governing their respective barangays.

Topics discussed were as follows: Mechanics of the Workshop by
Mario  Baterna, MLGOO-Bayog; Values and Leadership by Emma Albarico, LGOO VI, Cluster Head District II; Barangay Governance and New Programs by Alfred Angon, MLGOO-Pitogo; Community Mobilization by Marygold Aguilar, MLGOO-San Pablo; Disaster Risk Reduction Management by Richard Labadia, MLGOO-Lapuyan.

Laying the Grounds for Development/Barangay Agenda for Governance and Development (BAGAD) and Formulation of the State of Barangay Report by Rhea Romanos, Chief Operations Division, DILG Provincial Office; Development Planning and Project Monitoring and Evaluation by Engr. Jeremias Florida, MPDC-Bayog; and Barangay Budgeting by Melly Madamba, Municipal Budget Officer of Bayog.

It is expected that participants of this workshop will be able to craft their own BAGAD. (BAG/PIO-Bayog/CAL/PIA9)
