P750-T EAAB projects unveiled

ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 17, (PIA) - - the Philippine Air Force (PAF) yesterday received from the city government a P750,803.46 road concreting and open canal projects constructed inside the PAF’s - Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) in Barangay Sta. Maria, this city.

The inauguration was led by Mayor Celso Lobregat together with the Philippine Air Force officials.

The concreting of 123-linear meter road amounting to P593,162.93 and the construction of an open canal measuring 110 linear meters in the amount of P157,640.53 brought to a total of P7.6 million worth of various infrastructure projects implemented by the city government at EAAB since 2008.

The projects included the construction of a multi-purpose building amounting to P1.4 million in 2011, road concreting in the amount of P1.4 million, drainage system costing P457,500 in 2010, road and drainage systems totaling P2.4 million in 2009 and rehabilitation of two-storey six-classroom school building at EAAB Elementary School, among others.

“These projects prove that the relationship among city officials and EAAB officers is strong and excellent,” Lobregat said, adding that another projects for EAAb are up for bidding. These are the shower room for the PAF reservists and a terminal for civilians boarding the C130.

He also took the opportunity to thank the 3rd Air Division headed by its commander Maj. Gen. Jose Tony E. Villarete and the 530th Wing under Maj. Gen. Emeraldo Magnaye for always supporting the activities of the city government, especially allowing the use of helicopters for flower-drop and aerial surveys of Zamboanga’s important spots.


Present during the inauguration program were residents of Blocks 6 & 7 of Airmen’s Village, who are direct beneficiaries of the road and drainage projects, the airmen headed by Gen. Villarete and Gen. Magnaye, City Engineer Luis Vicente Despalo and Sta. Maria Barangay Chairman Justo Lacandalo together with Rev. Fr. Guilbert Erick Qui-Qui, who blessed the projects.
