Cotabato City, May 8 -The Overseas Workers Welfare
Administration celebrated its 30th Anniversary on May 7, 2012
(Monday) at RWO-ARMM Office, 2ndflr. MAGS Bldg. in this city, with
the Theme: “TatlongDekadangSerbisyongTapat, SerbisyongNararapat.”
The Regional Welfare Office-ARMM celebration was attended by
different partners from the Regional and Local Government Units, banking institutions,
members of OFW Family Circles and their families.
Among the honorable guests were ARMM Executive Secretary
Atty. Anwar A. Malang and DOLE-ARMM Sec. Muslimin A. Jakilan.
In his keynote address, Atty. Malang said, “OFWs are big
contributors to our economy. Malaking factor ang kanilang remittances sa pag-angat
ng ating ekonomiya. Sila ang mga Bagong-Bayani.”
Mr. Uga L. Sulaiman traced back memory lane in sharing the
Milestones of OWWA-ARMM since 1996. After that, Amy B. Crisostomo, OIC of
OWWA-ARMM delivered the anniversary message of OWWA Administrator Carmelita
Dimzon.
The highlight of the event was the Awarding of Recognition
and Appreciation to Regional institutional partners --Local Government Units
and banks for its continued support to the programs of OWWA and its sustained
commitment and responsibility to help promote the socio-economic welfare of
Overseas Filipino Workers and their families.
Representatives from LGUs and Banks were also given time to
convey their messages and commitments to OWWA.
The program ended with a Ceremonial Toast and Slicing of the
Anniversary Cake as a Symbolic Renewal of Commitment and Partnership for a
better camaraderie and healthy working relationship for many years to come.
The celebration will continue up to next week with a Photo
Exhibit showcasing activities and action photos of the agency for the past
years and serving free flowing coffee to its clients.
