DIPOLOG CITY, May 25 (PIA) - - The city government here headed by Mayor Evelyn T. Uy is slated to ink a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-IX on the Government Internship Program (GIP).

Members of the city council have recently authorized Mayor Uy to enter into a MOA with DSWD-IX led by Regional Director Teodulo Romo for GIP implementation in the city.

GIP, which is an initiative under the “Kabataan 2000” project of DSWD, aims to provide the students, out-of-school youth (OSY) and young professionals aged 18-30 years old with an opportunity to hone their skills and abilities through summer jobs.

Seventeen GIP internship slots have been allotted to the city and these will distributed to the different departments of the city government including the day care centers.

Each intern will work for a maximum of 52 days and shall receive a stipend of P267.00 per day.

GIP will also help government offices scout for potential public employees. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
