DIPOLOG CITY, May 7
(PIA) - - In support of the “Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007,” the members of the
city council here have recently passed the Citizen’s Charter of Dipolog City.
The Citizen’s
Charter aims to lay down the rules and procedures to be observed by the city
government officials and employees in carrying out their official duties and
functions more efficiently and effectively.
It can be recalled
that in pursuance of Republic Act 9485 otherwise known as the Anti-Red Tape Act
of 2007, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) has urged all national government
agencies (NGAs), local government units (LGUs), government financial
institutions (GFIs) and other government agencies to come up with their
respective citizen’s charter to better serve the public.
RA 9485 seeks to
curb bureaucratic red tape that jeopardizes the delivery of government
services.
The anti-red tape
act also aims to address the common complaints aired by the public in
transacting business with government offices such as bribery, habitual
absenteeism by employees in charge of processing the documents/papers and other
undesirable practices by government workers at workplace that cause undue delay
and disruption in public service.
With the citizen’s
charter, Mayor Evelyn T. Uy expressed hope that the city government would be
able to provide the public with fast, efficient and effective service.
