City lauds ZCPO as it goes hi-tech

By: Vic Larato

ZAMBOANGA CITY, May 29 (PIA)- -the City government yesterday commended the Zamboanga City Police Office under the leadership of its officer-in-charge Police Chief Supt. Mario B. Yanga on the launching of the electronic blotter (e-blotter) system.

“Today, the ZCPO goes high-tech, joining the rest of the key cities in Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao in being electronically connected with each other via the information superhighway or the Internet,” Mayor Celso Lobregat said, stressing that the new system facilitates fast, easy and paperless recording of crime information using the computer machine.

“The e-blotter is also tamper proof, meaning erring police officers cannot tamper with police records anymore,” the mayor said.

According to him, with just a click on the computer keyboard, crime information from the ZCPO, other police stations and high headquarters can now be accessed through the Internet for police action without having to go physically to the police station.

Lobregat said last May 8 he turned over to Gen. Yanga seven computer units worth P250,000 for the e-blotter.

For his part, police regional director Chief Supt. Napoleon Estilles thank Mayor Lobregat and the city government for readily donating to the ZCPO seven computer units for the e-blotter system, because the computers given by the PNP national headquarters were lacking to service the polices stations in the city.

“When we told the mayor that we lack computers, he immediately donated seven units to complete the e-blotter requirement,” Gen. Estilles told police officers undergoing training on the e-blotter system.-(JPA/VL/CIO/PIA9-ZBST)
