Bayog celebrate founding anniversary features Palad-Palad festival

Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur, May 02 (PIA) – The municipality of Bayog is celebrating its founding anniversary starting May 1 – 8, 2012 featuring the “Palad-Palad Festival.” It is a weeklong celebration, lined up with various activities with the theme “Basura Atras. Bayog Abante sa Serbisyo ug Asenso, Abante Bayog.”

As an opening salvo of the festivity a Street Dancing Competition was conducted on the first day, participated in by seven clustered barangays of the  municipality where the top 3 winners  received Php 20,000, 15,000 and 10,000 respectively. An Agro-Industrial Fair will start on May 2, and will end on May 7 featuring Barangay and Farmers Night.

A Talent Search in two categories (dance and singing) is scheduled on May 2, a night for the businessmen on May 3, for educators on May 5, for employees of the local government unit  (LGU) and national government agencies (NGAs) on May 7 and the coronation night of Miss Bayog 2012 on May 7 and Youth Night on May 8.

Expected guests for this year’s celebration are Second District Representative Aurora Cerilles, Governor Antonio Cerilles and Vice Governor Juan Regala among others.

Mayor Babasa said, in our time today we facing various problems and difficulties, disturbances in our peace and order situation because of the presence of mines in our place. “If there is mine, there is a problem and calamities,” that may hinder our growth and development.

With these present circumstances, Babasa is optimistic that if there is unity among the people and all sectors in our community we can overcome these challenges. The love of our family and love of men is the only key to achieve our goals and  helping each other in performing our responsibilities despite of so many challenges in lives.
  
The Palad-Palad celebration aims to offer to God our thanksgiving for all the blessings given to our municipality, our families, and  also to offer our prayers and petitions to the Almighty that He may give  us more strength, good health and abundant blessings, Babasa added. (BAG/PIO-Bayog/CAL/PIA9)
