65 CSO representatives convene for the Regional Stakeholders Consultation

Pagadian City, May 24 (PIA) – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has invited 65 Civil Society Organization (CSO) representatives from all over the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) for the  Regional Stakeholders Consultation held at Ocean View Hotel, this city on May 22-23, 2012.

The consultation aims to increase awareness of key stakeholders, particularly CSOs, on the ARMM Roadmap and Transition Support Plan, generate consensus from CSOs on their role in the implementation of the TISP and agree on workplan and terms of engagement among CSOs, implementing agencies and the Program Management Office with regard to the TISP.

It can be recalled, the Aquino administration has crafted a Roadmap for Governance Reforms to demonstrate its commitment by realizing sustainable progress and development in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

One of the major component of this roadmap is the Transition Investment Support Plan (TISP) which comprises various programs and projects amounting to more than P8.59 billion sourced-out from the savings of 11 national government agencies.

Presidential Assistant for Muslim Concerns and National Program Manager, TISP for ARMM Program Management Office Undersecretary Yasmin Busran-Lao said the roadmap focuses on eigth (8) key action and reform points: (1) improvement of basic services delivery; (2) creating an enabling environment for public and private partnership towards equitable growth; (3) Stepping up peace and order initiatives for sustained growth and development; (4) performing and strengthening bureaucratic reforms; (5) cleaning up of the electoral process and ensuring peace in the region; (6) ensuring good governance benchmarks in ARMM; (7) fully engaging CSOs and POs in governance; and (8) maximizing the potential of ARMM.

 Usec. Lao also encouraged the community to actively participate in   monitoring  the implementation of the different programs and projects in their respective areas and communicate with the implementing agencies of what they observe. The concerned national government agencies are given only until June 2013 to implement all their programs and projects, Lao added. (CAL/PIA9)
