Lamitan City is awarded the CSC seal of excellence

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Apr 24 (PIA) – “Excellent in public service”—this was how the citizens of Lamitan City in Basilan rated their local government in adhering to the requirements of the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007.

Civil Service Assistant Commissioner Atty. Rogelio C. Limare said that after passing the two stages of the validation process, the city government of Lamitan in Basilan obtained a numerical rating of 93.21 with a descriptive rating of excellent in a survey conducted on September 28-30, 2011.

In a ceremony on Thursday held at Datu Dizal Cultural center in Lamitan, City Mayor Roderick H. Furigay received the seal of excellence award and cash reward of some P75,000.00 from Atty. Limare and Director Resurreccion P. Pueyo, as witnessed by members of the city council, city hall employees, military, police and ARMM officials and other constituents.

The Citizen’s Satisfaction Center Seal of Excellence is an award given by the Civil Service Commission for agencies adherence to the requirements of the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, which include the drawing up of a citizen’s charter and the posting of information of their frontline services in billboards at the main entrance and other conspicuous places.

Limare said the award is conferred annually to government agencies which were subjected to the Report Card Survey and which have demonstrated public service excellence. He also disclosed that at least 14 Local Government Units in the country, including government line agencies have been chosen to receive the award.

In his acceptance speech, Mayor Furigay said that the vision for Lamitan as a hub for agri-industry and trading with sustainable basic services, better governance, and empowered citizenry is slowly being realized.

“Today, it is an honor not only for the local government of Lamitan to be a recipient of this prestigious award but all Lamiteños regardless of tribe and religious beliefs,” he said.

Furigay also announced that OIC ARMM Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman said during his “Ulat sa Bayan” in Cotabato city that Lamitan will get some P5 million-worth of projects from the regional government as a reward for the city’s exemplary performance.

He thanked the hard-working employees of the city, saying that “finally our efforts are being recognized. Congratulation, we did it!” (PIA-9 ZBST)
