DIPOLOG CITY, April
24 (PIA) - - Health sector stakeholders of Zamboanga del Norte have pledged to
support and sustain health promotion activities to be undertaken in the
different municipalities in the province.
In a planning
workshop on health promotion and communication held here yesterday, the
participants consisting of personnel from the Department of Health (DOH),
Municipal Health Officers (MHOs), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and other
stakeholders have formulated certain strategies to sustain health promotion and
communication (HPC) activities and interventions among families and community
folks.
Health Education
Promotion Officer Wilma Bulahan of the Integrated Provincial Health Office
(IPHO) said “HPC is an inseparable component in the health service delivery,”
adding that HPC and service delivery always work hand in hand.
IPHO has also noted
that HPC has successfully created a supportive environment and norms resulting
in improved individual’s behavior, attitude and knowledge toward health
programs and services.
It can be recalled
that the HealthPro, a private entity promoting health education in partnership
with the Gerry Roxas Foundation, has already conducted capability training for
midwives and nurses of some Rural Health Units (RHUs) and the BHWs of selected
municipalities in the province. They were trained on how to handle and deal
with their clients. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
