Mercury Drug celebrates 67th anniversary, holds ‘operation bigay lunas’

Pagadian City, Mar. 1 (PIA) –   Mercury Drug, one of the biggest and most numbers of chained  drugstores nationwide, today celebrates its 67th year of public service and existence.

To highlight the occassion,  “Operation Bigay Lunas – Libreng Gamutan” is once again being conducted at the Pagadian City gymnasium in cooperation with the city government headed by Mayor Samuel Co.

As early as 6 o’clock this morning, thousands of people from all walks of life flocked the gymnasium majority of whom are women and children, to avail the free medical services such as medical check-up, consultation, blood sugar testing, deworming and free medicines provided by Mercury Drug.

The free medical services are being handled by  twenty five (25) government and private medical practitioners from Pagadian and Ozamis City, assisted by the entire medical staffs of the city health office and employees of the city government.

Last year, the same activity was  conducted at the same venue, wherein thousands of Pagadianons majority are less fortunate availed the free medical services including medicines and vitamins for the children.

Mayor Co was so grateful with the management of Mercury Drug for selecting the city for two (2) consecutive years as the venue for the conduct of Operation Bigay Lunas, Libreng Gamutan not only for the Zamboanga Peninsula region but for the entire Mindanao area.

Operation Bigay Lunas is a joint project of Mercury Drug Foundation Inc., co-sponsored by United Laboratories (UNILAB), Philusa Corp, Medical Center Training Corporation (MCTC) and Absolute Sales Corporation and other pharmaceutical companies. (PIA9/CAL)
