DIPOLOG CITY, March 29 (PIA) - - The city government here through the City Health Office (CHO) has joined the recent “World TB Day” celebration by drumming up public awareness that tuberculosis is curable.
A motorcade was held around the major thoroughfares of the city Monday to draw public support to curbing the disease.
City Health Officer Cecilio P. Siglos said “TB is fatal but it can be cured.” So, those afflicted with the disease should seek immediate treatment which is given free in all government health centers and hospitals.
Siglos also said that TB is highly contagious so the patient must religiously take his anti-TB drugs. TB treatment will last for six months.
From January until today, the CHO has recorded 79 TB cases and these are now undergoing treatment. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
