Dipolog businessmen urged to install CCTV cameras

by Franklin P. Gumapon

DIPOLOG CITY, March 7 (PIA) – Members of the city council here are now considering to pass an ordinance requiring the local businessmen to install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) system in their respective establishments.

This move came amid reports of robberies, holdups and burglaries happening in other parts of the country. Some took place in broad daylight.

To get the pulse among businessmen on the proposal, the city council conducted a public hearing recently at the Sangguniang Panlungsod session hall.

The city council has also planned to make the installation of CCTV cameras in every establishment a requirement for the renewal of business permits.

The city councilors believed that a CCTV camera can curb and deter the thieves or robbers from assaulting an establishment, as it records and monitors the activities/movements of people within its premises.

City councilor James Cyril Ruiz said the CCTV camera could help secure not only the business establishments but the lives and properties of the people as well. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
