CAAP beefs up security at Dipolog airport

DIPOLOG CITY, March 17 (PIA) – To ensure safety among passengers and airport personnel, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) here is now implementing certain policies to be observed by the riding public.

Airport Manager Erlinda delos Reyes said she is limiting the number of people to be allowed to enter the arrival area of the airport to meet and fetch passengers. They also have to get prior permission from CAAP should they want to enter the arrival area.

A visitor’s ID would also be issued by CAAP to everyone seeking to meet the arriving passengers inside the airport.

Delos Reyes also disclosed that she already requested CAAP central office to provide the Dipolog airport with x-ray machine, baggage conveyor and closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera to monitor the movements of the people at the airport premises.

In another development, delos Reyes bared that a new airline company, AirPhil Express, would start servicing the Cebu-Dipolog-Cebu route come March 22.

It can be recalled that the Philippine Airlines (PA) and Cebu Pacific are the two airline companies servicing daily the Manila-Dipolog-Manila route. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
