WESCOM, 6CRG hold lecture on Oplan Bayanihan to reservists

ISABELA CITY, Basilan, Feb 9 (PIA) – The Western Command (WESCOM) and 6th Civil Relations Group, Civil Relations Services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (6CRG/CRSAFP) conducted a lecture and film showing on Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) “OPLAN BAYANIHAN” recently to some 103 reservists of Aborlan who are part of the Special Basic Citizen’s Military Training (SBCMT) Class 01-2012.

The 6CRG said this particular activity aims to ensure deeper understanding of the IPSP’s ultimate goal and mission to the reservists and for them to know their individual role as stakeholder.

“We need to focus and give emphasis on the need for “Bayanihan” by all stakeholders in order to achieve peace and development in our area of responsibility,” 6CRG Commander Major Joseph D. Bugaoan (PA) said.

Oplan Bayanihan’s primary focus in the conduct of military operations is winning the peace and not just defeating the enemy. Bugaoan said it shall be anchored on two strategic approaches, “The Whole of Nation Approach” and the “People-Centered/Human Security Approach” to win the peace.

The Class 01-2012 of the SBCMT started on 07 December 2011 and will end on July 2012. The recruits/trainees came from different barangays of Aborlan, Palawan. Once they graduated, they will have the ranks of a private and will become part of the Philippine Army’s reservists group in Aborlan. However, they will not be active members of the Philippine Army. Their services will only be tapped in cases of emergencies and civic welfare activities.

The training of SBCMT Class 01-2012 is facilitated by 2Lt Virgilio Respicio (PA), Executive Officer, 408th Palawan Community Defense Center (PCDC), 4th Regional Community Defense Group (4RCDG) of the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM). The training was fully supported by Aborlan Mayor Jaime Ortega who allocated funding from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC). (6CRGAFP/RVC-PIA9 ZBST)
