Short film making contest in Zambo opens

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Feb. 09 (PIA 9) - - Film enthusiasts, individuals who fancy film making will get the chance to showcase their “creation” as the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the City Government of Zamboanga conduct the first short film competition, as one of the activities lined-up for 2012 “dia de la ciudad de Zamboanga,” the 75th anniversary celebration of Zamboanga as a Chartered City on Feb. 26.

Film entries should depict the theme “Kultura de Zamboanga” and the video should be at least Three minutes but not exceeding Ten minutes.

The short film making contest is open to all independent film makers who are at least 16 years of age, a resident of the city or any province of Zamboanga w/ at least a year residency in Zamboanga City  and have not join any major film competition.

City Information Officer (IO) Sheila Covarrubias informed “huge cash prizes await the winners- P30, 000 for the first place, P20, 000 for the second placer and p10, 000 for the third placer.”

Covarrubias said, any digital camera including cellphone cameras may be used.

She clarified however that the use of copyrighted music as background or bedding in the video is prohibited unless allowed by the owner of the material.

The active IO said the film may be in the vernacular but should have readable subtitle.

“All entries should be in DVD format” Covarrubias said.

Deadline of submission is on or before February 16, 2012.

Announcement of the finalists is on February 22.

“All the finalists will be competing in the Film Festival on Feb. 26 at MINDPRO Citimall,” Covarrubias informed. (JPA/ PIA –ZBST)
