NTC urged to curb illegal handset radio operator, jammers

by Franklin P. Gumapon

DIPOLOG CITY, Feb. 4 (PIA) -  The city council here has recently passed a resolution urging the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to hunt down illegal handset radio operators and jammers that have already interfered with the radio transceivers of the city police station.

City councilor James Cyril Ruiz, who sponsored the said resolution, underscored the importance of insulating the radio transceivers of the police from jammers and unscrupulous handset radio operators to protect the public against any untoward incident.

“It is imperative that the radio transceivers of the police be secure from jammers to protect the lives and properties of the public,” the councilor stressed.

Councilor Ruiz added that the illegal handset radio operators should be stopped to protect the duly registered operators.

NTC is a government agency tasked with regulating telecom and broadcast industries to include, among others, the registration and licensing of radio station/system.

Jammers have been observed to have grown in numbers in the city. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
