JHCSC-Bayog supports National Greening Program

BAYOG, Zamboanga del Sur,  January 25 - - The local government of Bayog welcomed the move of the Josefina H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) – Bayog Campus to support the National Greening Program of the government as well as the local reforestation program of the municipality.

Mayor Leonardo L. Babasa Jr. said about five hundred (500) students of JHCSC, along with their instructors planted trees on Monday, January 23 at Glupa Gulian Agro-Tourism Park in Sitio Quibranza, Barangay Kahayagan. The activity is also in compliance with the students’ requirements for the second semester, School Year 2011-2012 wherein each student must plant at least five (5) trees in a semester before they will be issued clearances.   

Meanwhile, in yesterday’s meeting with Mayor Babasa together with department heads and key officials, Mr. Pablito A. Matias, Municipal Economic Enterprise Officer and also concurrent Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer disclosed that more than 50 hectares in Glupa Gulian are already planted with trees.

He said that by the end of March, 2012, it is estimated that 100 hectares of the area will be fully planted with trees. (BAG/ALT/PIA9-Zambo Sur)
