by Franklin P. Gumapon

DIPOLOG CITY, Jan. 25 (PIA) - - A business establishment here has recently bagged the “Silver Bagwis Award” of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

DTI-Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Director Noel Bazan together with “Bagwis Program” point person Vicente Araneta, City Information Officer Roberto Pinsoy and Dipolog Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) director Michael Malacca personally handed the award to Engr. Roland Soliva, proprietor-manager of Chevy Centre, a company that is engaged in car sales and repairs.

Director Bazan said Chevy Centre was the only establishment in the city that had received the silver seal of excellence for 2011.

DTI found the company to have been practicing fair and responsible business where consumers get value for money.

Bagwis Program, formerly known as the DTI-Certified Establishment Program, upholds the rights and welfare of the consumers by enjoining the entrepreneurs to observe fair and honest business practices through voluntary self regulation and ensuring that quality and safe goods, products and services are available for consumers.

In accepting the award, Engr. Soliva said “it marks a significant milestone in Chevy Centre’s history,” adding that his company started out as a small auto repair shop in 1975 at barangay Sta. Isabel this city.

“Chevy Centre recognizes the importance of good customer relations and sound policies on human resources because we acknowledge the customers and employees as our primary stakeholders. As part of our business strategy, we also seek to incorporate the community as our stakeholders,” Soliva declared. (FPG/PIA-Zamboanga del Norte)
