OWWA holds “OFW Family Day” in Pagadian City


Pagadian City, December 20 - The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 9 spearheaded the conduct of OFW Family Day last December 16 at the City Commercial Center (C3) here.

Some 1,000 OFWs and their families coming from the different municipalities of Zamboanga Del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte were treated with prizes and activities that brought good cheers and camaraderie among them.

The event is but a small way of recognizing their invaluable contribution to the economic survival and growth of the country.

The presence of Pagadian City Mayor Sammy Co and Labor Attache Bulyok Nilong of the National Reintegration Center for OFWs made the event more meaningful.

A Regional Reintegration Caravan on the OFW Reintegration Program was highlighted as Labatt Nilong introduced the OFW-RP by providing information on its mechanics, requirements and procedures. Said caravan shall serve as the starting point for succeeding activities to help OFWs and their families in establishing sustainable and viable enterprise.

The much awaited part of the program was the raffle prizes wherein 36 OFWs won consolation prizes which comprise of bed sheets, towels, umbrellas, flat iron, cup & saucer & a set of drinking glass.

For the major prizes, Juverliz Puyod of San Miguel, ZDS won a 2- burner gas stove while Abdulbayno Mentang of San Pablo won a stand fan and Jinky Beniga of Kawit, Pagadian City won a washing machine. On the other hand, Placido Ababol of Sominot brought home a 21” colored TV and for the grand prize, Ely Marie Bibas of Tawagan Norte, Labangan won a 6 cubic ft. 2-door Refrigerator.
