Pagadian City, Sept. 15 (PIA) -– The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-IX) has disbursed a total amount of P499,974 million for the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries covering 15 municipalities of the second congressional district of Zamboanga del Sur.
In her report during the Convergence Caravan held in Dumalinao gymnasium on Thursday (Sept. 15), Evangeline Poquita, 4Ps provincial focal person disclosed, that from May 2009 to June 2011 DSWD has released the total amount of P499,974 million intended for the 33,965 beneficiaries of the program.
The number of beneficiaries as of September 2011 are as follows: Tabina (1991); Dinas (2564); San Miguel (1675); Lapuyan (2686); Vincenzo Sagun (1834); San Pablo (2218); Tigbao (1669); Lakewood (1829); Kumalarang (3548); Bayog (2479); Dumalinao (2627); Pitogo (2048); Dimataling (3254); Magorsatubig (2240) and Guipos (1303).
In his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 25, President Benigno S. Aquino III has ordered DSWD to expand the program to two million beneficiaries by 2011 for the entire country. Zamboanga del Sur got a share of 27,940 beneficiaries, to date the province has a beneficiary base of approximately 64,575. (JPA/CAL/PIA9/ZamboSur)
